Mitsubishi Electric Launches MELFA ASSISTA Series of Collaborative Robots

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced today that on May 21 it will launch its MELFA ASSISTA series of robots that work collaboratively with humans based on safety features such as collision detection and strict compliance with the international safety and robotic standards ISO 10218-1 and ISO/TS15066. The series also will introduce an intuitive engineering software, RT VisualBox, for quick, easy system deployment. Customers will use MELFA ASSISTA and RT VisualBox to realize more efficient production, reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of robotic manufacturing systems, and meet new needs for adequate distancing of workers in manufacturing sites.
Mitsubishi Electric Begins Demonstrating Local 5G System in Japan

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation today announced that its Nagoya Works in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture has begun a demonstration test of a local 5G system, which Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has licensed for use in a limited area and operating with a different frequency band, 28.2GHz-28.3GHz, than those deployed by mobile operators. In the coming future, the company expects to deploy local 5G systems to deliver new services and businesses incorporating a wide range of Factory Automation (FA) and other products.
Mitsubishi Electric Releases FR-E800 General Purpose Inverter Series

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced today that it will release the FR-E800 series power inverters, with a range of 44 new models, from December 9. The new series, with safety functionality meeting IEC 61508 standards, supports various networks such as CC-Link IE TSN, a next-generation open industrial network, and make manufacturing smarter in various fields by integrating the world’s first corrosive gas environment detection circuit and the industry’s first AI-based diagnostic functions. From April 2020, Mitsubishi Electric will release successive new models with safety communication features such as safely-limited speed, similarly conforming to relevant IEC standards. The product range will be further expanded to a total of 120 models.
